BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: It is small aromatic
Pūtīhā perennial herb bearing small purplish flowers. It is being cultivated at various place in India. It is characterized by wide-spreading stolons that grow both under and above ground and have erect, square, branched stems. The leaves are oblong to lanceolate in shape, arranged in opposite, have serrated edges and are often downy.

MAJOR CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Essential oil contains a-pinene, B-pinene. limonene, octan-3-ol, menthion, neomenthol, 1-menthol, isomenthol, pulegene and piperitone. Fresh leaves cantain 1-methyl-B-D-glucoside.

- Stimulant & Carminative- Infusion of leaves used as digestive stimulant and carminative action.
- In Rheumatism– Infusion of leaves is taken per orally in rheumatism also in Aam vata (rheumatism).
- Durgandh Vrana- Local application of paste of mint leaves is helpful in durgandha vrana.
- Halitosis- Rinsing your mouth with mint leaves juice mixed with equal quantity of water helps to get rid of bad breath.
