HABITAT: It is found throughout great part of India. It is grown in evergreen forest, moist localities and bank of stream to elevation of 1800m, often cultivated for fruits and shade
BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:
The moderate to large sized spreading tree. The leaves are ovate or elliptic. The fruit is red when ripe, borne in clusters on short leafless branches emerging from trunk and from main branch.

THERAPEUTIC USES:
- Garbhapata: Udumbara fruit decoction is mixed with Shali rice powder and sugar is administered with honey.
- Hikka: Ash of Udumbara bark is mixed with honey and ghee and is given.
- Prameha pidhika: Udumbarakashira is apllied externally.
- Pumsavana: Vandaka growing on Udumbara tree is given with goat milk.
