HABITAT: Throughout India in warmer regions and specially in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and central India.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: A large evergreen tree, 10-45 m high with a heavy dome shape crown. Bark is thick, rough and dark grey. Leaves are 10-30 long and 2-9 cm wide emitting an aromatic odor when crushed. Flowers are tiny, reddish white or yellowish green. Fruits are round and oval, longish of various sizes, drupe. Seeds are solid encased in a hard compressed fibrous endocarp.
