HABITAT: A small bushy shrub growing to a height of 2-3feet
BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: Leaves 4-8inches long flower stalk oval shaped, ,flowers less oval in shape and are 7-8 mm long, Seeds ear shaped and white in color. Seeds mucilangenious in nature.

MAJOR CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Plant contains glutammic acid, aucubin, valine, arabinose.
THERAPEUTIC USES:
- Fever and thirst – The powder seed of ashvagol is given in 3-5gm in excessive burning.
- Indigestion, flatulence and distension of abdomen – Seed husk of ashvagol soaked in water for couple of hours.
- Irritable bowel syndrome – The seeds are fried in ghee and consumed.
- Retention of urine- Cold infusion of seeds is given in a dose of 30-40 ml.
