HABITAT: Amaltas is commonly found in tropical. The tree is one of the most widespread in the forests in india, usually occurring in deciduous forests throughout the greater part of india. It is both wild and cultivated.
BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:
Moderate sized, deciduous tree of the sub Himalayan tracts and common throughout India.
Bark is Greenish grey or brick red Leaves are Peripinnate, 5.1-12.2cm long, leaflets 8-16 acuminate, ovate and lanceolate. Flowers are Lax pendulous, racemes, Yellow, pods cylindrical, pendulous, indehiscent 25-30cm long and 1.53cm in diameter. Seeds Numberous, small, flat, smooth, in ripe pods entirely surrounded by a black pulp. Flowering time March- May Fruiting time May, ripen in cold season.

THERAPEUTIC USES
- Jaundice– leaf bud yellow colored flowers are taken and soup is made in a dose 50-100ml.
- Constipation– 15 to 20gm of stem bark is collected, added with 2 cups of water, boiled and reduced to a half a cup.
- Worm infestation– 20-30 gm of leaves are taken and fresh juice is prepared and given in empty stomach.

Kusthaghna Skin disorder, Vibandha Constipation, Udararoga Abdominal colic, Pandu Anaemia, Hrdaroga Cardiac disorder, Jvara Pyrexia, Gandamala Goitre, Granthi Cycst.
