HABITAT:

Danti is widely distributed throughout the sub Himalayan tracts from khasi hills to Kashmir. It is easily available in Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and peninsular India.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

It is found throughout India. It is a stout leafy undershrub. 1-2 m. high with herbaceous branches from the roots; Leaves variable in size and shape, with margin sinuate toothed, the upper one small, lower ones are large, sometimes palmately 3-5 lobed; petiole 5-15 cm. long, with a pair of stipular glands; Flowers are usually monoecious, in axillary racemes or contracted panicles; Fruit (capsule) 8-12 mm. long, obovoid and hairy, Seeds 8 mm. long, smooth.
