शुक्ल एरण्ड आमण्डश्चित्रो गन्धर्वहस्तकः |

पञ्चाङ्गुलो वर्धमानो दीर्घदण्डोऽप्यदण्डकः |

रक्तोऽपरो रुबूकः स्यादुरुबूको रुबुस्तथा |

HABITAT: All over India

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

Ricinus communis is a robust shrub or small tree with a softly woody stem, growing up to 4 m high. The stems are smooth, round, and frequently red, with clear sap. The leaves are simple and alternate. Long purple leaf stalks are attached near the centers of the leaf blades.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

Neuromuscular Pain reliever: Enema/internal use of castor oil is preferred.

Purgative: 25 to 50 ml Castor oil with lukewarm milk.

Conjunctivitis: Castor plant leaf juice with rock salt is applied locally.

Flatulence: A decoction made by castor plant root and dry ginger is to be administrated with hingu and souvarchal salt.

Gout: Castor oil with lukewarm milk.

Hernia: Castor oil with lukewarm milk for one month.

INDICATIONS:

Shotha oedema, Jwara Pyrexia, Udararoga Ascites, Aamvata Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bastishula Renal colic, Katishula Lumbago, Vata nadi shool Neuromuscular Pain reliever.

USEFUL PART: Root, Leaf, Seed, Oil.
