HABITAT: It is found in the lower Himalayas, the Nilgiris and the East and West Coasts of India.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: A moderate sized unarmed deciduous tree , reaching 18 metres high, bark greyish yellow, rather corky. Leaves 10-20 , broadly ovate, accuminate, entire, glaborous above when mature, petiolate. Flowers usually arranged in cymes of about 3 flowers, corolla brownish yellow, Fruit – drupe, orange yellow when ripe. Flowering and fruiting time: Summers and onward season

  • Headache with fever: Leaves paste of the plant locally applied.
  • Inflammation: Root bark is used for inflammation internally.
  • Urinary disorder: Fruit and leaf juice are used internally.
  • Abdominal disorder: Decoction of root bark 50-100 ml.
  • Thurst: Fruit is taken as internally.

INDICATIONS: Shotha oedema, Daha burning sensation, Jwara fever, Trisna thirst, Arsa piles.

USEFUL PART: Root, Fruit

DOSAGE: 20-30 g of the drug for decoction.
