HABITAT: It is found throughout Tropical India.
BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:
It is a large succulent climber with rough corky bark found throughout India.
Bark – grey-brown or creamy white; Leaves- petiolate, 5-10 cm diameter and cordate; Flowers – small and yellow; Fruits – pisiform and red when ripe. Long filiform aerial roots are frequently developed from the branches. The root stem and the starch (sattva) derived from the stem is used in medicine. It should be used fresh. Flowering and Fruiting time : Flowering occurs in May–June, while fruiting is witnessed in September–October.

- Gout: Giloye taken with castor oil.
- Rheumatoid arthritis: Giloye along with ginger powder.
INDICATIONS:
Jwara fever, Kustha leprosy, Pandu anaemia, Prameha diabetes, Vatarakt gout, Kamala jaundice.
USEFUL PART: Stem
DOSAGE: 3-6 g of the drug in powder form, 20-30 g of the drug for decoction.
