HABITAT: Grows in warmer and tropical regions, also in Asia like India, Pakistan, southern islands

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: An extensively climbing annual, wild.

Stem: thick, angular. Leaves are 7.5 to 20cm long, deeply divided or moderately lobed. Flower are large, monoecious. Fruits are subglobose, smooth and greenish. Seeds are usually marginated.

MAJOR CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Alkaloids, palmitic acid.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

• Greying of hairs: Locally application of seed oil on scalp and hairs.
• Abdominal disorder: Internally taken of aasav of indravaruni.
• Inflammation: Lepa of moola at affected area.
• Loose stool with abdominal pain: Moola with sounf, sonth, ajwain internally given.
• Respiratory disorder: Fruit external part is used internally.

INDICATIONS:

Aamvata rheumatoid arthritis, raktaj vikar bleeding disorders, pleehodara spleen disorder, jwaraghna fever, udara roga abdominal disorders.
