HABITAT: It is native to South Asia, Southeast Asia, parts of East Asia, West Asia and tropical Africa.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: Perennial climber, 2-3 m. Leaves 3-5-veined from the base, variable in shape, older leaves often distinctly 3-5-lobed, younger leaves oblong-ovate to somewhat obovate, covered in yellowish velvety hairs, apex with a small sharp mucro. Flowers in axillary clusters, unisexual; sepals densely hairy.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

• Rheumatoid Arthritis– The Root decoction of jaljamini is administered along with pippali churna.
• Dysuria–The Root Juice is administered in case of difficulty in urination and burning sensation.
• Snake poisoning- The fresh juice of the root of the plant is given in a dose of 25-30 ml.
• Cough- The powder of root is given with honey.
• Sun Stroke-20 ml of Root Juice extract is given with one teaspoon of Sugar.

INDICATIONS:

Aam Vata Rheumatoid Arthritis, Rakta gata vata Hypertension, Kasa Cough, Aruchi Anorexia, Mutrakrichra Dysuria, Jwara Fever, Updamsha Syphilis.

USEFUL PART: Root, leaves.

DOSAGE: 10-20 ml Juice.
