HABITAT: Arborescent; stem without prickles.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

Leaves short-petioled, ovate or ovate-lanceolate. Involucral bracts 5-7, about half as long as the calyx, lanceolate, glabrous. The flowers may be orange, yellow, crimson, bright red, magenta, and multi-colored.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

  • Alopecia– The paste of the leaf and flower of Hibiscus is processed in sesame oil and the prepared oil is applied over scalp.
  • Rakstambhak– To control heavy bleeding, the tender flower of Hibiscus is made into paste mixed with milk and this mixture is consumed.
  • Diabetes– Flowers of hibiscus soaked in water overnight and the water filtered next day and consumed dose of 30 ml.
  • Contraceptive– The tender buds and flowers of hibiscus are consumed.
  • Cardiac disorders– Petals of Hibiscus boiled in milk,mixed with sugar candy and consumed in dose of 50 ml to strengthen cardiac muscles.

DOSAGE:

Hibiscus Capsule – 1 capsule twice a day or as prescribed by the doctor.

Hibiscus Syrup – 3-4 teaspoon twice a day or as prescribed by the doctor.

Hibiscus Powder – 1/4-1/2 teaspoon twice a day or as prescribed by the doctor.

Hibiscus Tea – 1-2 cups in a day.
