HABITAT:

Assam, Bengal, southwards to Andhra Pradesh and western ghats

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

A medium sized tree attaining 2 m girth and abt 18mt. height. Leaves are elliptic, oblong or ovate, leaf tip- acute or shortly acuminate. Flowers are small orange or yellow, terminal and solitary inflorescence. Fruits are 5-6.3cm, globose pseudocarp, yellow when ripened

  • Swelling and pain reliever-The paste of the leaves of kadamba are tied over the wound or area affected with localized pain and swelling.
  • Mouth ulcers and inflammation of the gums-The decoction of the bark is used for gargling.
  • Nausea and vomiting- The powder of the bark of the tree is given with sugar candy in a dose of 5-6gm.
  • Stem -Antidiuretic, anthelmintic, hypoglycaemic.
  • Fruit—cooling; anticatharrhal, blood purifier, analgesic.

INDICATIONS

Grahi Absorbant useful in diarrhea, Shukravardhana Aphrodsiac, Visha Toxic conditions.
