HABITAT: It is found in the Himalayan region from Kashmir to Sikkim at an elevation of 2700-4500m and in Nepal.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION: Leaves are 5-15cm long. Its rhizome are 15-25 cm long and woody. Flowers are pale, purplish blue, borne in cylindrical spikes, spikes borne on almost leafless erect stem. Fruits are 1-3 cm long.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

  • Eosinophilia-and cold- 20-30 ml decoction or hot infusion of kutaki is administered.
  • Pyrexia- Equal amount of kutaki and nimba are taken and decoction is made.
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus and cholesterol- A combination of equal amount of kutaki and turmeric powder in a dose of 500mg-1gm.
