HABITAT:
Saghwan is a tropical hardwood tree widely distributed in India, Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia. It thrives in well-drained, deep, and fertile soil, often found in mixed deciduous forests.
BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:
Saghwan is a large, deciduous tree that can grow up to 30-40 meters in height. It has a straight, cylindrical trunk with greyish-brown bark that exfoliates in thin scales. The leaves are ovate, large, and rough-textured. Flowers are small, white, and fragrant, arranged in terminal panicles. The fruit is a drupe, enclosed in a leathery husk.
