HABITAT: All over India, from the plains up to 600 m in the Himalayas and in the Andamans

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

It is large, erect deciduous spreading tree. The bark is dark brown to greenish black, have longitudinal/ transverse fissures. Leaves are bipinnate, 8-18 leaflets. The inflorescence is globose head of greenish yellow flower. The fruits are yellowish brown, strap shaped.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

  • Sarpavisha: Sveta maricha soaked in Sirisha flower juice for 7 days is used for nasya, pana and Anjana.
  • Suryavarta and Ardhavabhedaka: Nasya of the seeds of Sirisha and mulaka may be useful.
  • Kushta: Paste of the bark of Sirisha is useful.

25-50 g kwatha

3-6 g churna
