HABITAT: cultivated throughout India.BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

Leaves– The leaves are compound, simple, long divided and green color.

Flower– mostly pink, sometimes white.

Fruit– Fruit is dry but does not split open when ripe. Fruit length at least 4mm. The crop is diploid.

Roots – There is tap root system which is mostly confined to 10-20 cm depth of the soil.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

Aruchihara – Cumin seeds are dry fried a little and added to 200ml of hot water when it is lukewarm this is taken twice daily.

Jvarahara – Cumin seeds along with jiggery cleanse the bowel and relieve burning sensation.

Shramhara– Cumin seeds, water and milk are boiled till it is reduced to the amount of milk.

Atisaraahara –Cumin seeds is used with curd in diarrhoea.

Kanduhara –Bathing with decoction of cumin seeds is used to cure itching.

INDICATIONS:

Gulma Abdominal tumour, Atisara Diarrhoea, Grahani Malabsorption syndrome, Krimi Worm infestation, Kushtha Skin diseases
