HABITAT: The Himalayas from Kashmir to Assam at altitudes of 1600 – 4000 M

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

The evergreen tree with thick, spreading, horizontal branches. The leaves are flat, 1 to 5.5 cm long, about 2 mm broad; shining, midrib in the upper surface, petiole very short. The Flowers are monoecious and the fruits are round to rectangular shaped, 2- 4 inches colour of cones are dark purple when ripen. The seeds are of winged type.
