HABITAT: Cultivated extensively in Indian gardens.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION:

Annual, erect herb, 0.3-0.9m high. Leaves are bipinnate or tripinnate. Bracts many and linear. Flowers are in umbels, pure white coloured. Fruit ovoid, carpels dorsally compressed.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

Shoola: In case of abdominal colic the powder of yavani, rock salt, Haritaki and shunthi may be given in equal quantity.

Danta roga: Paste or powder of yavani and vaca may be applied over the gum or at the root of teeth.

Udarada: Yavani given with jaggary for a week is a definite cure.

INDICATIONS:

Gulma (tumor), Shoola (Pain), Krimi ( worm infestation), Chardi (Nausea)

USEFUL PART: Fruits

DOSAGE: Fruit powder- 1-3g, Oil- 1-3 drops, distrillate- 20-40 ml.
